Ever since DomainKing launched the cheap .com domain offer in Nigeria, many bloggers in Nigeria have been leveraging on the opportunity to get a custom domain for their blogspot blogs. Unfortunately, many of them don’t know how to use the domain name for their Blogger blogs.
How To Link DomainKing Domain Name To Blogger/Blogspot Blog
I assume you have registered the domain name and it’s already active, if yes then go to domainKing website and log in.
==> Click on “My Domains“
==> Click the small arrow next to the domain name you want to use for your Blogger blog.
==> Scroll down to the Management Tools section and click on the “DKNG DNS & Free Email Panel” button
==> Click “Manage DNS Records”
==> Click “Continue to DNS Panel”
==> Click on “A Records” tab > “Add A Record”
==> Leave the “Host Name” field empty
Enter 18.104.22.168 in the “Destination IPv4 Address” field
==> Click “Add Record”
==> Repeat same for 22.214.171.124, 126.96.36.199, 188.8.131.52 so you have four A Records.
==> Click on “CName Records” tab > “Add CName Record”
==> Enter www in the “Host Name” field
==> Enter “ghs.google.com” in the Value field. Ensure you select the second option as seen in the screenshot below:
==> Click “Add Record”
==> Open a new tab in your browser and sign in to www.blogger.com
==> Go To “Settings” > “Basic” > “Publishing”
==> Click : + Set up a third-party URL for your blog
==> Enter www.yourdomain.com in the box and save. After clicking save, you will see an error message.
==> Copy the details of the second CNAME quoted in the error message ( Label and Target ) and paste somewhere eg notepad
==> Switch back to the domainking page, click “CName Records” > “Add CName Record”
==> Copy the “Label” and paste in the “Host Name” field
==> Copy the “Target” and paste in the “Value” field (2nd option)
==> Click “Add Record”
After 5 – 10 minutes, go back to your Blogger settings page and try saving it again.
If successful, click “edit” and tick the “redirect” option.
If still displaying the error, you might have to wait a bit more and try again.
I hope it works for you.
Alternatively, you can submit a support ticket and the domainKing support team will be glad to assist you with the configuration.
If you don’t want to go through all these stress, you can just hire me to set up Blogger custom domain for you.
If you are a starter, let me clear your doubts regarding free domain name Vs. custom domain name.
When you start a blog on BlogSpot.com, you usually get a domain name like (name.blogspot.com) and this is what we call as a free domain name. Where as custom domain name is something like name.com.
A good example is nct.com.ng which is a custom domain name.
In this case, I’m assuming you have purchased domain name from Whogohost and you have access to your BlogSpot blog.
Complete Guide to Setup BlogSpot With your Custom Domain Name:
I recommend you to read it, and decide the name of domain which you want to buy. I highly recommend you to try buying .com domains instead of any other (.info, .org). In 2016, you can also consider buying new domain name extensions with .guru or .video.
Add Register domain name to your BlogSpot Blog:
This is the first step where you will be adding the register domain name to your blog. Simply login to your BlogSpot dashboard, and head over to Settings > Basics and you will see an option which says Publishing >Blog address > + Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog:
Here you need to add the domain name that you have purchased, and after adding the domain name, it will give two CNAME records and 4 A records which we will be needing in the next step.
Note: You need to add domain with www as prefix. (See above screenshot for better understanding)
Now. once you have these CNAME details, it’s time to login to your domain control panel, and make changes.
How do I map my domain to my Blogspot account?
To map your registered domain to your Blogspot account, follow the steps below:
Login to Blogger and update the information on your Settings | Basic tab
Find the area for “Publishing,” and click the link to add a custom domain.
Then, click on “Switch to advanced settings.”
Enter in the URL for your custom domain (i.e.
-domain where your-domain refers to your domain excluding the www) in the text box provided, and click Save.
